Truth be told, I am glad my friend made this suggestion, for it gives me a good foundation to work upon. “But let’s cut to the chase,” one of us inevitably says, “does it have Duende?” And thus, the floodgates open. The essay: Lorca’s “The Duende: Theory & Divertissement.” In many ways this work has become a pillar for our friendship, for whenever one of those heavy silences falls between us, we always tend to fall back onto Lorca’s shoulders and critique the contemporary world of art through his eyes. He also suggested that I start my blog off with an essay we’ve been pondering on ever since we met in NYC three years ago. Also, I imagine, he was getting tired of hearing me go on and on about such subjects while at bars, restaurants, cafes, etcetera, etcetera. A friend persuaded me to start a blog at an attempt to get me to share the things we often discuss in a more open format.
